Hiii all!
My amazing friend Deeja came into uni one day rocking these seriously awesome gradient nails so I literally begged her to take photos of them so I could share with all you lot =]
She used Accessorizes Bronze and Topshop's Glimmer to create the gradient by applying both polishes onto a sponge and then dabbing onto the nails.
I was surprised to learn that she didn't paint a solid base before doing the gradient - this way it seems to be a much easier and quicker process without any excess drying time! I'l definitely try this technique out soon!
Thank you doll for snapping these gorgeous pictures. I love the colours you used and the way you did the gradient =] Don't you think her nails are so cute?!
Deeja doesn't have a blog (yet ;]) which I could forward you all too, but hopefully she'l make one soon and post amazingness onto it about all things beauty!
And on a completely different topic, something I'v been ranting about the past few days:
I tried posting a couple of gift and swap packages the other day through Royal Mail and they refused to send them as they each contained nail polish. I was told that from last Monday they changed their security measures and are now mega strict on the sending-polish-overseas rule. I'm actually really upset by this as it could potentially mean I can't complete a swap i'm in the middle of and also that I cannot do anymore in the future. I feel really bad for the person i'm swapping with too as she has spent money on buying the things I want and then shipping it out to me... and I can't send her stuff in return.
Now i'm also worried that the her end of the swap may not even reach me, if these security laws have become so tight recently God knows what could happen! =/
Has anyone else had the same problem recently? Has anyone found another shipping company that maybe isn't so uptight about polish??
Please let me know as it could seriously help me out!
Thank you =)
♥♥♥
What a great idea and very effective to :)
I may give this a go when I'm experimenting hehe :)
I'm sorry to hear about the problems you have had with posting nail polish, as I had no idea this was the case. Not nice when your swapping as well.

@All things wonderful: I was amazed when she told me how she did it! Haha yepp do, and let me know when you try it out as i'd love to know! =)
No it's definitely not good when i'm swapping, I just feel terrible! I really hope I can find another company asap and get her things over to her! =)

Hmm, could you try using those self-services machines at the post office so then you wouldn't have to tell anyone what was in the package?
@Laura: But then security would detect it at their depots and then probably either trash my parcel or send it back to me and not refund anything. The woman who served me explained everything to me about not declaring. Their security has shifted up a good few notches, all since last monday! =/
I learned about that technique for achieving gradient nails after I did mine hahaha! I'm definitely going to need to do gradient nails again soon to test it out! Her nails looks so good! :)
And that's a bummer that you can't send polish through the mail any more :/. I wonder why they've become so strict. I don't think you can do it in the US anymore either, but I've never tried. I have heard other people ranting about it as well though.
@Something polished: Haha brilliant! I haven't yet tried out gradient nails with two similar-ish textured polishes (only glitter gradients on creams) so will def try this technique out myself too =] Aww i'l tell her you said so, she'l be so happy!
Yepp it completely sucks. I have no idea either tbh, its a waste of time! Hmm, i'l have to look into it and see what others are saying. Thanks though!
Ah I see. I don't know why they feel the need to penalise innocent nail polish addicts!
It looks great. I had that polish before but I drooped it and broke the bottle :)
I had writte a post about the problem of the nail polishes a few weeks ago. I sent some polishes to a friend on Christmas and they return them. Not only that they only refund me half of the postage I paid (handling fee charge). Nail polish is no longer allowed to be sent because it's flammable. I had a china glaze nail polish giveaway coming soon and I had to cancel it :)
@Laura: I know right?! Leave us alone and go and focus your efforts on real danger! =P
One more thing my parcel was not even open they detected the polish with the scans. So no point trying to say it is something else in the package has some readers advice me when I write the post :)
@Beauty shades: Aw thanks, i'l let her know! =] Oh noes, that sucks! Poor polish :(
Oh really?? I must have missed that post. Gosh they didn't even refund all your money?! Yea the lady who served me at the post office said that from last Monday the rules had changed and that now they won't even refund any money at all, and in fact make it a criminal offence!
Its just ridiculous, i'm so sorry you had to cancel your giveaway.
And yepp I completely understand, you'l be fined if you try to declare it as something else anyway!
Thank you btw! =]
I just don't understand how the online companies will send the nail polishes bought online within the UK. I agree they should fine people if they lie about what they send. Still is sad that we cannot send polishes anymore :)
If I do a giveaway will be make-up or costume jewellery all the nail polishes I had for giveaways I will be given them as Presents to friends :)
Maybe try a company called My Hermes??

Oh I've just read they only post in the country :/
Sorry

@Beauty shades: Thats what I thought too... I guess they won't be able to now. Yea, its just pointless and not doing any kind of good at all!
Aw sucks doesn't it?
@All things wonderful: Aw no it's ok! Thank you so much for trying to help out! =)))

Very cute manicure :)
I heard about the Royal Mail crackdown from a friend that I send stuff to all the time--and she had some polishes for me that now she can't send out. It sucks.
@Claudia: =)))
@Karen: Oh no, that really does suck =( Its annoying and stupid, hopefully we can find another company that does allow it though.
